Nikon D4 and D3s battery weight

April 28, 2012 Jim Leave a Comment

Curious as to whether the 3 ounce difference between the D4 and the D3s was due to the smaller capacity battery in the D4, I weighed both batteries. I got 5 5/8 ounces for the EN-EL4a battery that’s used in the D3s, and 5 3/8 ounces for the EN-EL-18 that’s used in the D4. That’s without battery doors and anti-shorting covers.

The battery in the D4 is responsible for hardly any of the weight difference.
