I’ve been using a Google/Asus Nexus 7 for a while. I got mine about two weeks after they started shipping. I loved it at first sight. I think the size is great. It’s big enough so that you can comfortably read a book or browse the web, but it’s small enough that you can hold it with one hand, and it’s light enough that your arm doesn’t get tired. It’s got all the great Android configurability. It’s got really nice widgets for clock, mail, calendar, weather, and such.
The Nexus 7 and I had a weeks-long honeymoon period that ended today.
If you’ve been a reader of this and the predecessor blog for a while, you’ll remember that I had a Droid X for a while, but I swapped it for an iPhone 4s when I couldn’t get the Exchange client to work consistently. I was using Touchdown on the Droid X, but the native email client on the Nexus 7 seemed to work pretty well, so I stuck with it.
Today all of my calendar entries disappeared. I researched the problem using – what else? – Google, and there seemed to be many solutions, the least invasive of which was to delete all of your calendar data, and then power cycle. I did that. When I tried to access my calendar, the app asked if I had an existing account. I said that I did, and it gave me a logon screen. I entered my credentials, and it told me that I couldn’t use those because there was already an account with that userid on the tablet. Catch-22. I backed out of the calendar app, got back in again, and hit refresh. I got some, but not all of my calendar entries back. I hit refresh again, and got the rest.
Many of the people with similar problems say on the web that the trouble recurs, sometimes more than once a day. We shall see.

No recurrence so far. Fixed for good?
