Another Synology hang

November 26, 2014 Jim Leave a Comment

The repair of the array ended just like the last time — with a hang. The Synology NAS box stopped serving files.

I went into the admin console and saw that it thought it was still repairing:

Went I looked at the volume, it said repairing, but the progress indicator was MIA:

But when I looked at the log, it said it had finished the repair:

I tried a reboot.

The system didn’t come back up.

I went down to look at it, It was powered up, but the blue power light was blinking. A little Internet research revealed this to me a recurring Synology problem, which has a name: the Blinking Blue Light of Death, or BBLoD.

I forced a power cycle from the front panel power button. After it rebooted, it was happy again:

This is not hugely confidence-inspiring.
