I interrupt this string of posts about the Soberanes Fire for one on this blog’s main subject (before I hijacked it for fire posts), my struggles with technology.
Today’s topic is not a new one: Adobe Creative Cloud licensing issues. Here’s the story:
- I took a computer out of service without removing the CC license from it.
- I went to the CC management website and removed the license for that computer.
- I returned to the website and only one computer was licensed.
- I download a bunch of CC apps to a new computer (the Dell workstation that I’ve talked about recently).
- I tried to launch one, and got a message saying that I was only licensed for two computers =and where did I get off thinking I could run CC on a third.
What to do but call Adobe Support? So I did. For most of an hour, the tech patiently explained to me that I couldn’t run the software on more than two computers at once, and that I already had two active licenses, and me, with diminishing patience, explaining that the Adobe website showed that I only had the software installed on one computer.
The impasse was finally resolved after the tech opened a pipe to my screen so that he could see what was going on and I navigated to the Adobe web site that showed only one computer active. Then he saw the light, went off, did some magic, and it all worked.
Adobe has a data base synch problem in their licensing system.
Grrr.
