Solomons 1994


In the fall of ’94, I spent two weeks on the Bilikiki, a 125-foot converted freighter operating out of Honiara, which is on Guadalcanal Now there’s a name to stir up associations! About the only evidence of the war is Henderson Field, which is still there, but the land is being slowly turned to leisure and commercial uses. The big wrecks in Iron-Bottom Sound are too deep to dive.
